Centers in N. Darfur aim to register 2956 for S. Sudan referendum

Voter registration started in North Darfur in three centers for Southerners who will participate in the self-determination exercise scheduled for 9 January 2011. The registration in the three centers in El Fasher, Aliat and Kutum will last for 17 days in total.

Voter registration started in North Darfur in three centers for Southerners who will participate in the self-determination exercise scheduled for 9 January 2011. The registration in the three centers in El Fasher, Aliat and Kutum will last for 17 days in total. Ibrahim Musa Al Ansari, Chairman of the Referendum Office in the state, explained that the target number of southern voters for registration is 2956 in the state’s three centers, out of 5651 Southerner citizens residing in the state, according to census results. He indicated that the target number of voters is about 1008 in El Fasher, 1884 in Aliat, and 464 voters in Kutum.
