The Presidents of Sudan, Chad, and the Central Africa Republic held a meeting in El Fasher this week, at the conclusion of the celebration of Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.

Sudan's Information Minister, Ahmed Bilal Osman, told the press in El Fasher that the presidents, including Omar Al Bashir, Idriss Déby and Faustin Archange Touadéra, discussed the situation in the CAR, and the achievement of security and stability in the border areas.

Osman said that they also talked about the implementation of the Sudanese-Chadian joint forces, along with the establishment of joint forces between Sudan, the CAR and Chad.

The mass celebration in the capital of North Darfur marked the completion of implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) and the consequent dismantling of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA). On Wednesday, President Omar Al Bashir announced a general amnesty for all rebel fighters and prisoners-of-war who are willing to lay down their arms.

Child soldiers who fought for the armed movements would be released, he pledged.

Chad’s President Idriss Déby said that the security and stability of Sudan impacts on the security of Chad and the entire region.
