Bodyguard, driver of South Darfur Commissioner shot dead

The bodyguard and the driver of the Commissioner of East Jebel Marra locality in South Darfur were killed in an ambush on Monday.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an eyewitness reported that bodyguard Mohamed Abdelkarim and driver El Haj Adam Ishag were waiting for the Commissioner’s in front of his office in Malam, when they were killed.

The bodyguard and the driver of the Commissioner of East Jebel Marra locality in South Darfur were killed in an ambush on Monday.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an eyewitness reported that bodyguard Mohamed Abdelkarim and driver El Haj Adam Ishag were waiting for the Commissioner’s in front of his office in Malam, when they were killed.

“Four gunmen in a Land Cruiser and another vehicle with no plates suddenly appeared and shot the two men dead. The attackers then took the Commissioner’s new car and fled.”

The source added that a search team composed of policemen and people of the neighbourhood went out to persecute the killers.

South Darfur police chief Maj. Gen. Balla Mohamed Hussein confirmed the attack. He said that the two men were killed while the Commissioner was performing his noon prayers in the local mosque.
