Blue Nile state wali killed in car accident

The wali (governor) of Blue Nile state, Abdelrahman Noureldayem, was killed in a car accident on the Wad Madani-Khartoum highway in El Gezira yesterday morning.

The wali (governor) of Blue Nile state, Abdelrahman Noureldayem, was killed in a car accident on the Wad Madani-Khartoum highway in El Gezira yesterday morning.

El Gezira Police Brig Sami Siddig said in a press statement that the accident occurred four kilometres north of Wad Madani, capital of El Gezira.

The driver of the governor’s car attempted to avoid hitting a child crossing the road. This caused a rollover. The wali was killed, his son, bodyguard, and driver were injured.

The governor was on its way from Ed Damazin, capital of Blue Nile state, to Khartoum on an official mission.

The body of governor was transported to a hospital in Wad Madani, and later airlifted to Ed Damazin to be buried.
