Blast after trucks crash claims seven lives in North Darfur

Six fuel trucks collide on the Western Salvation road, resulting in an explosion, the deaths of seven people, and the wounding of several others.

Seven people burned to death when six trucks carrying fuel near El Fasher, North Darfur, collided on Wednesday afternoon. A number of other people were wounded.

The trucks were on their way from Omdurman to the capital of North Darfur. The collision took place on the Western Salvation road at Karkar area, near the capital city of North Darfur state.

The locality commissioner, Eisa Mohamed, disclosed that the accident occurred as a result of the use of excessive speed by one or more of the drivers, and a wrong passing. Two fuel trucks drove into each other; the strong friction caused a fire to ignite, which led to an explosion.
