Bank in South Darfur capital city robbed in broad daylight

Four men robbed Tadamon Islamic Bank Branch in broad daylight on Tuesday in Nyala, South Darfur. They took all of the bank’s money and then fled on the back of a Land Cruiser vehicle.

They took all of the bank’s money and then fled on the back of a Land Cruiser vehicle.The perpetrators of the attack were four people in civilian clothes, two of whom were gunmen. Witnesses said the attackers came yesterday afternoon on the back of a Land Rover vehicle without plates. They immediately threatened the guards, bank owners and owners of the adjacent shops. They took the weapons of the guards. Witnesses said the entire time to storm the bank did not exceed one quarter of an hour. After taking the money the gunmen left in their vehicle to an unknown destination. A witness who was at a store near the bank described to Radio Dabanga what happened. His account of the incident was broadcast on Radio Dabanga this morning.

The President of the Bankers Association in Nyala, Ibrahim Mohamed, condemned the incident, describing it as a criminal act that will impede the flow of money and investment into South Darfur. He called for news measures to secure banks in Nyala, including increasing the guard force and the installation of early warning systems and security screens within the banks. He explained that the money that was looted from the bank totaled more than 250 million pounds.
