Attacks, armed robberies in North, Central, and West Darfur

North, Central, and West Darfur witnessed a series of armed robberies and thefts during the past days. “On Sunday, Dankoj camp resident Abdelmalek Fadul was robbed of SDG2,000 ($350) by four gunmen while he was on his way from Saraf Umra town to the camp,” a Dankoj camp sheikh reported to Radio Dabanga.  “The day before, 109 sheep and goats belonging to four camp residents, were stolen by Janjaweed,” he added. In the centre of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur, two cars were stolen at gunpoint on Sunday. One of the vehicles belonged to Muawia Gamareldin, and the other to the Darfur Regional Authority, Gamareldin told Radio Dabanga. Central Darfur In El Jebelein camp for the displaced in Garsila locality, Central Darfur, camp resident Maryam Haroun Ahmed was seriously injured on Monday evening, a camp sheikh informed Radio Dabanga. “Armed robbers stormed the house of Ibrahim Mohamed Eisa, and started firing. Eisa’s wife was critically hit, and had to be transferred to a hospital in Garsila for urgent treatment. Also on Monday, two gunmen attacked Adam Kalou inside his house in Nierteti town, Central Darfur. “When he protested, they shot at him, wounding him seriously,” his neighbour said. “They then took Kalou’s motorcycle, and fled.” West Darfur On Monday, three gunmen assaulted Sheikh Gamareldin Abakar, when he was on his way from Tandelti to Saraf Jidad. “They beat him severely, and robbed him of his motorcycle, and SDG8,000 ($1,400),” an eyewitness reported.
