Armed robbers kill citizen, injure another in Kass, South Darfur

A resident of Kass, South Darfur, was killed near his house on Thursday. The same day, a displaced man was injured by gunmen, and robbed of his mobile phone. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a neighbour of the deceased reported that gunmen shot Saleh Mahmoud near his home in Kass town, in a robbery attempt on Thursday evening. Mahmoud was hit in the chest, and transferred to Kass hospital, where he died upon arrival. The neighbour said that a night patrol seized the murderers. A group of angry relatives and other citizens staged a demonstration on Friday morning, in front of the Kass police station, calling upon the authorities to provide security, and protect the citizens the assaults by militiamen. Also on Thursday, gunmen attacked Mohamed Saleh of the Hajar Yahya camp for the displaced on Thursday. “He was injured by gunmen, who robbed him of his mobile telephone just outside the camp on Thursday afternoon”, a displaced told Radio Dabanga. “They fled to the Ali Dinar district in Kass, not far from the camp.” File photo
