Aid official: 500 to 600 families arrived recently at Direij Camp

The commissioner of humanitarian aid in Southern Darfur, Jamaal Yusif, admitted that there are thousands of new arrivals at Direij Camp near Nyala. He said they came from Khor Abeche and other areas of North Darfur.

The commissioner of humanitarian aid in Southern Darfur, Jamaal Yusif, admitted that there are thousands of new arrivals at Direij Camp near Nyala. He said they came from Khor Abeche and other areas of North Darfur. Yusif estimated the number of arrivals at between 500 and 600 families. He explained that the UNHCR, UN agencies and some humanitarian organizations will be visiting these people on Wednesday to survey and assess the situation in preparation for providing support to them.
