Aging wells in Adila, West Darfur expensive to maintain

The director of water administration of Adila locality in East Darfur has told Radio Dabanga that there are 60 water stations working in his locality, including 38 wells. However there is a decrease in the number due to the lack of spare parts. “Another consideration is the high cost of their maintenance after the expiration of their normal useful lives. Most of the wells were drilled since 1970, believing that the solution lies in drilling alternative ones so that there wouldn’t be a water crisis in the future.” The Director noted that Adila locality is considered one of the widest in terms of area, and one of the most densely populated localities in East Darfur.
