25 killed in fresh clash between Darfur tribes southwest of Kass

Fresh violence broke out between two Arab tribes that had reached a reconciliation deal in late June. The fight resulted in the deaths of 25 people and injuries to 7.  Fighters of the Misseriya and Rizeigat tribes fought in the areas Babanusa, Jabaloyeh, and Wadi Milla, southwest of Kass on Monday and Tuesday. One of the residents of the area said that although the fighting began Monday, the government did nothing to stop it. He said that the events were repeated on Tuesday. Some fighters used heavy weapons including dushka heavy machine guns. He pointed out that the statistics of deaths from the fight Tuesday were not available.

Another resident of Kass, Ismail Yahia Abdullah, confirmed to Radio Dabanga that clashes occurred but said he did not have the statistics about the number of dead. He stressed that the atmosphere has been tense in certain areas tense since clashes Monday afternoon and Tuesday.
