‘2.675 pupils drop out of school to work in gold mines’: W. Darfur

The minister of education of West Darfur announced that 2.675 primary school pupils have dropped out of school this year to go working as artisan gold miners. Adam Yahiya Bashir Adam told Radio Dabanga in an interview that a total of 14.500 male students and 11.825 female students were enrolled in school in West Darfur this year. According to the minister, the state set up 40 centers in eight localities for students to take their certificate examinations, including El-Geneina, Kulbus, Sirba and Kireinick.
