18 students of University of Bakht Elruda wounded in raid

Eighteen students from the University of Bakht Elruda were wounded, and 54 were arrested when police and the security bureau raided the university campus in in the city of El Duwaim in White Nile state. The raid happened after the political parties in the university passed an end-of-term report and the previous years’ budget of the students’ union — which is chaired by the National Congress Party.

A student told Radio Dabanga that eight of the wounded people are in a critical condition, including four female students. He also stated that the police raided the dormitories and chased students to leave the dormitories of the university. The student mentioned that the incident led to the burning of a car belonging to the police, part of the college of education, and the mosque of the college of agriculture for girls in the university of Bakht Elruda.
