Darfur camp elders warned after speaking with UN Security Council

Leaders of displaced people who spoke with the UN Security Council delegation on Friday in North Darfur were summoned by security forces and threatened. The omdas and sheikhs of the displaced were warned after the meeting with members of the Security Council. The displaced told Radio Dabanga that security officials asked the omdas and sheikhs to hand over the names and contact information of all those who spoke at the meeting with the Security Council.Also five of the sheikhs were arrested at most only a few hours after their release for the visit of the visiting delegation. Their detention has been renewed for another three months and they were returned to Shalla Prison on Friday.
