Press allegations on rift between Abdel Wahid and Bassole repudiated

Abdul Wahid Mohamed Ahmed al-Nur, founder and President of the Sudan Liberation Movement (now SLM-AW,) denied assertions made in Sudanese media reports. Sudanese media suggested, that Abdul Wahid refused to meet with Djibril Bassole, joint mediator, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, in Kampala (Uganda). In an interview with Radio Dabanga, Abdul Wahid commented, that such talk was absolutely not true. Also, Bassole, made known, that he had had contact with Abdul Wahid. Yet, Bassole’s position is clear, as he presses for negotiation with the National Congress Party, whereas SLM (AW)’s main objective, now, is to topple the regime.
