SLJM group claims killing 25 soldiers in S. Darfur combat

The Darfur rebel group Sudan Liberation Movement for Justice (SLJM) led by Karbino, claims it killed more than 25 government troops and its militias in a combat in South Darfur on Sunday, 13 January. SLJM spokesman Mohammed Ahmed Yaqoub added to Radio Dabanga that his movement lost three men during the battle after they entered the Abu Adjura locality, where the fighting took place.  Besides, he continued, several government officers and militiamen were wounded, and an army garrison was destroyed. The rebels had two of their vehicles destroyed but managed to seize several “heavily armed” Land Cruisers and ammunition belonging to the military. S. He stated that two rebels were killed and that the army captured SLJM’s commander. In addition, two civilians were killed during the clashes: Abu Adjura’s omda Mohammed Hasballah Bashir and the citizen Mohamed Ishaq, the governor revealed. The governor of South Darfur, Hamad Ismail Hamad, condemned the rebel attack on the Abu Adjura locality.

He stated that two rebels were killed and that the army captured SLJM’s commander.
