11 killed as Musa Hilal troops and Tama Nazir guards clash in North Darfur

At least eleven people were killed and five injured on Monday in a clash between the guards of the Nazir of the Tama tribe and militia troops led by Musa Hilal in Saraf Omra, North Darfur. A group of Musa Hilal’s militiamen in eight vehicles mounted with Dushka machineguns arrived to the Wadi district in Saraf Omra town at about 9am on Monday, one of the Nazir’s guards reported to Radio Dabanga. The gunmen stormed the house of the Tama Nazir, Mohamed Shareef, in search of the new Commissioner of Saraf Omra locality, Kamal El Din Yahiya Halil, who was appointed on Saturday.   The attackers were convinced that the Commisioner was present somewhere in the house. They entered into a discussion with the guards of the Nazir which led to a fierce gunfight. Four guards were injured, one child was killed and five people were injured. Ten attackers were killed. The guard said that the militiamen used missiles, machineguns, and shotguns in the attack on the Nazir’s house. The house and two vehicles were entirely destroyed. Hilal’s son killed Sources reported to Radio Dabanga that a son of Musa Hilal, Habib (a Border Guards captain), was among the 23 fighters killed in the battle between the Central Reserve Forces (Abu Tira) and Musa Hilal’s militiamen.The battle took place in the area of Tirma on the Kutum-Kabkabiya road on Friday. One of the militia leaders, named Jesus the Messiah, was killed too. Hilal’s son killed
