Farmers in Central, North and West Darfur have renewed complaints about vicious attacks on their farms by herdsmen, who drive livestock onto farms, damaging their agricultural crops.

The farmers underline the failure of the committees formed by state authorities to protect the agricultural season. They also bemoan the authorities’ failure to confront the herders, or enforce their obligation to use the early grazing time in February next year.

Farmers from several locations in all three states have contacted Radio Dabanga, complaining of fierce attacks over the last few days; camels and livestock have resulted in extensive crop damage.

They appealed to the authorities to intervene so that they can harvest what is left of their crops.
