Updated: WFP re-registration causes protest in camp Zamzam

A re-registration of cards for the World Food Programme (WFP) caused widespread discontent and protest among residents of camp Zamzam. According to activists and leaders of the camp more than 33,000 camp residents did not receive their renewed card for the organization’s food distribution. They said a total of 98,411 displaced people live in camp Zamzam and call on the WFP to reconsider the final results. Adam Ahmed Isaac, resident of camp Zamzam, told Radio Dabanga he cannot not believe only his name and the name of his wife are printed on the new card. ‘In 2004, my two sons of 9 and 7 years old were also on the card. I have four children now, but none of them appear on my card’.
