Two former rebel commanders arrested in El Fasher without charge

Two military intelligence leaders of the Sudan Liberation Movement ‘Free Will’ faction, which had signed a peace deal with the government at the Abuja talks, were arrested by military intelligence in the city of El Fasher on last Monday. Mohamed Bashir, military adviser to the movement, said that Mohamed Ibrahim and another intelligence commander of the movement were arrested by Sudanese military intelligence and placed in detention. The security service is keeping them in El Fasher without charge, and the detainees have not been allowed to receive visits from their families. Mohamed Bashir said the families fear they face ill-treatment and he appealed for their immediate release.
