Two dead, two injured in Darfur attacks

A militiaman was killed, and a policeman and a civilian were wounded in an attack on a police station in Kabkabiya town on Saturday. In Zalingei locality, Central Darfur, a vendor was stabbed to death over the payment of some cold drinks.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an eyewitness reported that five militiamen riding on two motorcycles started shooting at the police station of El Mawashi on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an eyewitness reported that five militiamen riding on two motorcycles started shooting at the police station of El Mawashi on Saturday evening.

“In the ensuing firefight, one of the attackers was fatally hit, and a policeman and Yasin Abakar Adam Shogar who was passing by, sustained serious bullet wounds.”

The source said that the wounded were taken immediately to a hospital in Kabkabiya. “The police chased the culprits, and exchanged gunfire with them, until the area of the stadium in the southern part of the town, but were unable to capture them.”

‘Cold drinks’

Mohamed Adam Mohamed was stabbed to death at the market of Kuteiri village, 20 km northeast of Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur, on Saturday.

The coordinator of Central Darfur camps for the displaced reported to Radio Dabanga that Mohamed was attacked when he insisted that the gunmen, who had ordered some cold drinks, should pay. “The militiamen fled immediately after the killing.”
