Two children drown in Nyala, South Darfur

On Thursday, two boys drowned in a pond at the Otash camp for the displaced in Nyala, capital of South Darfur. Torrential rains destroyed dozens of shelters in the camp.
“We found Amir Suleiman Mustafa (12) and Mohamed Haroun (9) drowned in one of the ponds created by extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday,” an elder reported to Radio Dabanga.
“The torrents destroyed more than 80 homes at the camp,”he said. “We also lost large amounts of foodstuff in the stores.”
The sheikh appealed to the South Darfur authorities and humanitarian organisations to accelerate the provision of aid to the affected.
