Torrents damage 200 homes at Hassahissa camp, Central Darfur

Heavy rainfall damaged 200 homes at the Hassahissa camp in Central Darfur on Tuesday. Haroun Adam Abdelshafi, a sheikh at Hassahissa camp, located west of Zalingei town, told Radio Dabanga that torrential rains on Tuesday destroyed 150 shelters at the camp, and partially damaged 50 homes.  “Besides, 300 latrines have been spoiled by the rains since July.” The sheikh said that the affected displaced are currently living in the open, with no cover or food, and appealed to humanitarian organisations to provide aid, and support the construction of new latrines.
