Three die at Sudan’s presidential palace in Khartoum

An attacker killed two guards of the Sudanese presidential palace in Khartoum before being shot dead by other guards on Saturday.The presidency has released a statement saying that the attacker was identified as Salah Kafeh Kowa. With a sword, he stabbed one of the palace guards in front of a gate, then seized a rifle and started firing, killing two guards. Others returned fire and killed Kowa on the spot. President Omar Al Bashir was not in the palace at the time of the incident.Security experts doubted the presidency’s version of the attack. Abdallah Abu Guroun told Radio Dabanga that it is inconceivable, “that someone with a weapon like a sword could seize a weapon from a guard”.
