Sudanese warplanes used bombs to kill eight (8) civilians in a mountainous part of West Darfur, said Zahra Abdelrahman, a source in the area of Jebel Moon. He provided Radio Dabanga with the names of the dead. Independently, Ali Al-Wafi, a military spokesman of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), told Radio Dabanga from Doha that the government bombarded Girgi Girgi area in Jebel Moon. He said that the bombs killed nine (9) civilians and some cattle.
The Jebel Moon area is controlled by JEM. Al-Wafi said that the bombardment constituted a kind of declaration of war and will be answered in kind. JEM previously signed a framework peace agreement with Sudan at Doha. No final deal has been inked.
The spokesman of the Sudan Armed Forces, Al Sawarmi Sa’ad, denied that any attack had taken place.
