Sudan uprising: Day 51 and counting

The demonstrations calling for the unconditional step-down of President Omar Al Bashir and his regime entered day 51 on Friday.

Demonstrations and protests continued with condemnation of the killing of teacher Ahmed El Kheir under torture in the cells of the security apparatus forming a major theme.

Thousands of residents of Khashm El Girba in Kassala went out demonstrating after Friday prayers, demanding the overthrow of the regime and the punishment of the killers of teacher Ahmed El Kheir.

The protest took place from the Great Mosque after Friday prayers and joined by other demonstrations coming from the neighbourhoods.

The mass march took broke out from the town and then headed to the locality police headquarters and the headquarters of the security forces demanding the punishment of the killers.

In Khartoum, more than seven demonstrations were held in solidarity with the detainees and those killed, and in response to the call of the Sudanese Professionals Association and other forces signatory to the Declaration of Freedom and Change.

Omdurman

Hundreds of demonstrators took part in demonstrations in Wad Nubawi, Beit El Mal in Omdurman, and Jabra, El Kalakla and Burri in Khartoum, and El Haj Yousef in Khartoum North demanding the overthrow of the regime and the step-down of Al Bashir.

The security forces used tear gas to disperse the peaceful demonstrations.

Witnesses from El Hijra mosque in Wad Nubawi, said that the security forces fired tear gas inside the mosque and besieged the mosque with armoured vehicles.

Northern State, South Kordofan, West Kordofan, West Darfur

Hundreds of people in Northern State, South Kordofan, West Kordofan, and West Darfur went out in demonstrations demanding the removal of President Al Bashir and his regime and in response to the call of the Sudanese Professionals Association and other forces signatory to the Declaration of Freedom and Change.

On Friday, residents of Sugdan in Northern State took part in a mass demonstration demanding freedom, dignity and the overthrow of the regime.

The demonstrators held banners calling for freedom, peace, and justice and demanding Al Bashir to step down.

Youths protest

On Thursday evening, dozens of youths demonstrated demanding the overthrow of the regime in Abu Jubeiha in South Kordofan.

One of the participants in the demonstration told Radio Dabanga that the youths of the districts of El Bosta, Shendifog, and Farig El Kouz took part in the demonstration in which they shouted slogans denouncing the killing, beating and arrest of peaceful protesters before the security services intervened to disperse them.

The youth resistance committee of El Mujlad in West Kordofan addressed a crowd at the livestock market on Thursday.

The speakers payed tribute to the souls of those people killed in the revolt, wished recovery to the wounded and called on the citizens to go out to the streets in order to overthrow the regime and oust Al Bashir.
