Sudan soldiers harass, arrest Central Darfur shop owner

Elements of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) arrested a man selling phone credits inside Nierteti market, Central Darfur, and brought him to a military garrison on Thursday. A listener reported to Radio Dabanga that one of the SAF elements demanded mobile phone credits from Nureldin Mohamed. He refused, after which the soldier and his comrades arrested Mohamed. They accused him of providing phone credits to the armed rebel movements, the listener said. He fears that the shop owner will be exposed to torture and ill-treatment by the SAF, and appealed to the authorities to release Nureldin Mohamed.
