Sudan security detains lecturer in Dongola
Security officers detained Talha Hameed Hassan, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of Dongola University in Northern state, on Monday.
He was held after he had accused the police of abuse and corruption on the social media.
An activist told Radio Dabanga from Dongola that the lecturer criticised the police after his sons were accused of stealing a weapon from a vehicle in Karima last week.
“Seven young men, among them three sons of Hassan, were detained in Karima. He visited his sons while in police custody, and noticed traces of beating on their bodies. Four of the young men were then released, while the sons of Hassan are still being held, without any evidence or justification,” he explained.
