Sudan’s Defence Minister visits Zalingei, Central Darfur

Sudan’s Defence Minister Abdel Rahim Mohammad Hussein and leaders of the Sudanese Armed Forces have arrived in Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, for a round of meetings with the military command of the army, the State Governor Jaafar Abdul Hakam and the Security Committee of Central Darfur state. The meetings will focus on the security situation in the state and Jebel Marra and what is to be done during the next few days. Sheikh Matar Yunus Ali Hussein has described the conditions in the state as “fragile and deteriorating because of the pro- government militiamen’s attacks an robberies of citizens”. He added that the militiamen “are originally thieves that will not stop these violations. In these circumstances dialogue cannot be held. “The Doha Document for Peace in Darfur is no more than a predicament.
