The dire fuel crisis has remained the primary concern for people in Khartoum and other states.

On Monday, Ahmed Mohamed, a resident from El Gedaref told Dabanga Radio that owners of buses and other public transportation vehicles have doubled their tariffs as a result of the fuel crisis.

He explained that vehicles are lining up in front of petrol stations for hours to get fuel. “On Monday, all but two petrol stations in New Halfa in Kassala stopped operating, because of the fuel crisis.” Mohamed complained he had to wait for hours to get fuel for his motorcycle.

In El Obeid people struggle with the fuel crisis every day, Muawya Khidir, coordinator of the Forces for Freedom and Change in North Kordofan, told this station.

He attributed the problem to a lack of supervision and the location of the state. “North Kordofan is a crossing point state that links Darfur and Khartoum. That puts pressure on the state's quotas of fuel and flour,” he said.

Khidir further explained that North Kordofan receives its full share of fuel, but ‘the deep state’ manipulates the distribution process because it controls the economic sector in North Kordofan.

Public transportation means were scarce in North Kordofan on Monday, because of the fuel crisis. Commuters and students crowded in the bus stations because of the lack of vehicles.
