A farmer told Radio Dabanga no kind of financial compensation had been offered in exchange for their eviction. He added that the government has not paid any compensation for land confiscated to the oil field since as far back as 1992, and noted that the government forces had exploited their lands by making them pastures for raising cattle and for charcoal production.
