The Sudanese Doctors’ Central Committee reported that 13 demonstrators in Khartoum and Wad Madani were injured during Thursday’s demonstrations as a result of the security forces firing tear gas and using sticks, plastic bars and batons.

The committee said in a statement that six demonstrators were injured in Wad Madani, capital of El Gezira, and seven demonstrators were also injured in Khartoum, including a case of a person hit by a Land Cruiser of the security forces.

The doctors at El Gezira Centre for Injuries and Orthopaedic Surgery announced withdrawal from the centre in protest of the police firing tear gas inside the centre, which caused panic among patients and their companions. They said they transferred the cases to the Hantoub Emergency Centre, and considered firing tear gas in the hospital a flagrant violation of the rights of doctors at work and patients in treatment.
