At least 13 civilians are now confirmed dead as a result of the ongoing clashes between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in El Salama, southern Khartoum.

Since the artillery shelling responsible for the casualties took place last Thursday, the casualty figure, attributed to a statement from Khartoum’s ‘Southern Belt’ emergency room, has continued to rise, as reported yesterday.

Old (central) Omdurman also became a battleground for clashes between the warring sides yesterday, with the fiercest encounters reported in El Omda, Wad Nubawi, and the areas surrounding the El Soug El Shaabi.

According to reports, the army persistently carried out air raids on concentrations of RSF troops in the eastern Khartoum neighbourhoods of El Manshiya and Burri.

RSF retaliated by shelling the army’s General Command and the vicinity of the Signal Corps in Khartoum North (Khartoum Bahri).

Witnesses also reported that the SAF targeted multiple sites under apparent RSF control near the neighbourhoods of Jabra and El Sahafa, surrounding the SAF Armoured Corps in Khartoum, yesterday morning.
