“You are our martyr, Mohamed Abdelrahman,” members of the social networking site Facebook wrote on a site page called “Youth for Change,” which has more than 16,000 members.

Three activists confirmed that the student died, Reuters news agency reported. The top SPLM official in the North, Yasir Arman, also confirmed news of his death. Young people held protests Sudnay and Monday at universities in Khartoum, Kassala, El Obeid and other cities in the north. Police largely contained the protests to university campuses.
