Student abducted in Garsila, Central Darfur

A secondary school student was abducted in Garsila, the capital of Wadi Salih locality, in Central Darfur on Sunday. “At about 6am, seven government-backed gunmen in a Land Cruiser mounted with a Dushka machinegun raided the family home of El Nil Ishag Abakar Mohamed. They seized Mohamed and two motorcycles, and took them to an unknown destination,” one of the neighbours told Radio Dabanga. The witness said that the gunmen accused the student’s father, who is a butcher, of stealing nine of their cows. He appealed to the kidnappers to release the student, “as he has nothing to do with his father’s alleged wrongdoings”.
