SRF announces bombing El-Fasher airport

The Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) announced bombing the airport of El-Fasher, capital of North Darfur, on Friday evening October 26, Radio Dabanga was informed. Abdullah Mursal, spokesman of Sudan Liberation Movement-Minni Minnawi, disclosed to Radio Dabanga that heavy artillery and Katyusha rockets were fired at El-Fasher airport on Friday evening around ten o’clock.  Different rebel movements, united in the SRF, took part in the attack, Mursal told Radio Dabanga. The spokesman explained that the attack was aimed at destroying El-Fasher’s airport, in response to the government’s air strikes in the region. “We targeted the airport to stop the killings, destruction and displacement caused by Antonov and MiG planes and helicopters from El-Fasher airport”, he added. British news agency Reuters reported on Sunday October 28 that UNAMID confirmed receiving reports about a shooting near to El-Fasher, which was said not to be unusual. UNAMID spokeswoman, Aicha Elbasri, said in an emailed statement to Reuters that no casualties were reported.
