The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) issued a press statement on Monday, stating that they had resumed their bombardment of “military targets” inside the city of Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan. SPLA-N spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi states that from this morning and throughout the day, “National Congress Party (NCP) Air Force Antonov planes, jet fighters and heavy artillery extensively bombed and shelled several areas controlled by the SPLA-N mainly Atmur, Daloka, Umm Serdiba to the west of Kadugli”. Lodi says that artillery units of the SPLA-N and Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) “responded and shelled several military targets inside Kadugli city.” He repeated an appeal to civilians “to distance themselves from military targets”. “We warn the NCP in Kadugli not to prevent the civilians from seeking safety or loot their property,” Lodi states. He also calls on the government “not to use civilians as a human shield”. “The SPLA-N forces are advancing to liberate the city and will never fall back,” Lodi concludes.
