South Darfur police beat two accused to death

Two men succumbed to wounds sustained in police custody in Dimo village, South Darfur, on Monday evening. The commissioner of El Salam locality, El Sadig Hamdallah, told Radio Dabanga that the Dimo police detained three men on charges of livestock theft on Monday. One of them confessed immediately, but the other two denied the crime. They died that evening following beating by police officers.

Hamdallah said that the South Darfur police chief, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Osman Kheir, ordered a complaint be filed under Article 130 of the Sudanese Penal Code against the police agents concerned. He also ordered their transfer the state capital of Nyala for questioning.
