The government of South Darfur State stated that the total death toll from the events last week in Kalma Camp reached 15 dead and 30 wounded. A humanitarian affairs advisor of the state government, Suleiman Ahmed Omar, said that more than 16 thousand displaced people have fled from Kalma to their home areas east of Nyala. Meanwhile leaders of the displaced and refugees, in interviews with Radio Dabanga, have called on each other to keep calm and unity among themselves. The deadly fighting in Kalma, as well as an earlier clash in Hamadiya Camp least week, seem to have resulted from disputes about the peace process in Doha. The United Nations peacekeepers suggested that the factions involved had loyalties to the Liberation and Justice Movement and the Sudan Liberation Movement-Abdel Wahed, but the rebels denied this.
