South Darfur fails to pay full salaries: state workers

Workers in the institutions of the State of South Darfur complained about lack of payment by the state Ministry of Finance despite a monthly grant approved by the Presidency of the Republic in January.

Workers in the institutions of the State of South Darfur complained about lack of payment by the state Ministry of Finance despite a monthly grant approved by the Presidency of the Republic in January. The staff said they were surprised not to be included in salary disbursement that began yesterday. They noted that the state has justified this non-payment by the fact that they have been transferred so far only 50% of the grant total.

The state workers rejected the state Ministry of Finance’s explanation, referring to a speech by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance in Khartoum, Dr. Al Tayeb Abu Ganaya, who said that his ministry paid the salary amounts for the central and state governments since last Thursday, and disbursed enough for full salaries for state employees.
