SLA-AW, SLA-MM and other factions in talks for united Darfur resistance

The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army led by Abdelwahed Mohamed Al Nur (SLA-AW) yesterday announced the launch of an initiative to reunite all armed resistance movements in Darfur. The rebels claim their aim is to link up with national opposition forces in order to secure change and build a “state of citizenship and democracy.”

The rebels claim their aim is to link up with national opposition forces in order to secure change and build a “state of citizenship and democracy.”Nimr Abdelrahman, spokesman of SLA-AW, told Radio Dabanga that the meeting aims to overcome political differences between the two SLA factions. He said thye are ready to reunite. The meeting, which is being hosted in a country neighboring Sudan, will also include high-level representation from UNAMID, including the head of mission Ibrahim Gambari, as well as the Force Commander and Police Commander.
