Six more Jebel Marra villages burn in Darfur

Militiamen set six villages north of Kalokiting in southern Jebel Marra on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday at around noon, a large group of militiamen on camels and horses stormed the villages of Tana, Kerukouli, Awal, Namouli, Soula, and Jido,” a fleeing villager reported to Radio Dabanga.
“We all fled in time to the caves and valleys up in the western part of Mount Marra,” he said. “The militiamen stole all our livestock, and set the houses on fire. All six villages burned to the ground.”
He described the situation as “extremely insecure, as army forces entered the area after the militiamen left.
“What is currently happening in Jebel Marra is worse than what happened in the first two years of the war in Darfur, 2003 and 2004,” the villager said.
