Security forces arrest 3 lawyers after peaceful protest in Nyala
Three lawyers were arrested in Nyala after they met with the government of South Darfur. During a meeting with the head of security and head of police they handed over a petition in which they demanded President Omar Al Bashir to stop the use of excessive violence against peaceful protesters.
Three lawyers were arrested in Nyala after they met with the government of South Darfur. During a meeting with the head of security and head of police they handed over a petition in which they demanded President Omar Al Bashir to stop the use of excessive violence against peaceful protesters. They were acting as representatives of the lawyers who had gathered on Monday to hold a peaceful protest in the city of Nyala.
A lawyer told Radio Dabanga that the meeting was tense. The head of police and security accused the lawyers of stirring unrest and inciting protests in Sudan. On Tuesday morning the lawyers Ahmed Mohamed Abdallah, Adil Abdallah Nasser Al Din and Abdallah Abu Hassan were arrested.
The lawyers in Nyala demand their immediate release along with the release of all imprisoned protesters. They appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to support this demand and pressure the government for their release.
In Nyala more than sixty (60) lawyers protested in front of the local government building in South Darfur on Monday.
