SDG10 million pledged for development in Shattaia, South Darfur

On Saturday, the conference on tribal peaceful coexistence in Shattaia in South Darfur concluded with the pledge of the Second Vice-President of Sudan to contribute SDG10 million ($1.65 million) for the development of basic services in the locality.
Tribal leaders of the Fur, Beni Halba, Misseriya, Zaghawa, El Khuzam, Rizeigat, Daju, and Salamat attended the conference that took place in Shattaia locality in South Darfur.
In a declaration presented on Saturday, the participants emphasise the importance of a general disarmament among the people in Shattaia. They also recommend the establishment of a committee of tribal leaders, who should visit the camps in the locality to encourage the displaced to return to their places of origin.

The leaders further urge the people to forget what happened in the past, and use the compensations to start a new life without having to rely on others.

Hassabo Mohamed Abdelrahman, Second Vice-President of Sudan, announced that the Presidency will contribute SDG10 million ($1,63 million) to support the development and provision of water, health, and education services in Shattaia.

Governor of South Darfur Adam El Faki stated that he will exert all efforts to restore the rule of law in the state, by continuing the collection of weapons from civilians, and the persecution of criminals. He stressed that his government will provide army and police troops to Shattaia to protect the people, and secure the agricultural season.
