RUF claims it shot down two helicopters

The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) claimed to have shot down two helicopters belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). They said that two of the military forces were killed and five others wounded.

They said that two of the military forces were killed and five others wounded. Spokesman of the RUF Abdo Fadlalah told Radio Dabanga that the RUF shot down the two helicopters. He added it was on Friday, 26 March. Lt. Col. Sawarmi Khalid Saad, the spokesperson of the Sudanese Army said the two helicopters crashed due to technical failure and the location of the incident was not in an area of military operations. Radio Dabanga learned that a team of technicians went to the scene for investigation.

On Sunday, the spokesman elaborated that the first helicopter crashed due to technical failure while flying at low height, while the second one crashed due to sand entering its engine during a rescue attempt for the first helicopter.
