Thousands of families with members working in places in Atroun were affected by the government blockade of the road to Libya which starts from Atroun in Malha and Malit in the state of North Darfur and continues through Northern state. The citizens described the decision as unfair and appealed to the government of North Darfur and the national government to immediately open the road because the blockade has affected thousands of families working in Atroun and led to the increase in prices of good and damage to the animal resources in the Meidob Hills. The citizens of the area, especially the herders and traders, considered the closing of the road an economic blockade and a way to drive them out of their areas. Ali Adam Ibrahim, a former member of parliament, revealed that the blocking of the road led to the halt in trade and herding movements and demanded the government to open it immediately.

In another development, three armed men in military uniforms robbed the trader Awad Alla in the area of Difa, north of the Meidob Hills on Saturday and took thirty-six million pounds from him. Witnesses said that the trader came from to the area in his car and sold his goods in the area and was robbed on his way from the neighborhood as he was returning to Hamra Elsheikh.
