Police quickly crush demonstration in Nyala

Residents of Nyala in South Darfur held a demonstration Thursday demanding the downfall of the regime. The demonstration started from Souq Khor in the South Market with the aim of reaching Elmulid Square in Nyala. Police stopped the demonstration while it was still beginning using batons and sticks. They arrested 13 protestors.

They arrested 13 protestors. In another security development, four displaced people from Kalma Camp were arrested at Tandbei checkpoint in Nyala on Wednesday. A sheikh from the camp told Radio Dabanga that the arrested displaced people included Ishaq Mohammed Idriss who was a resident in block six in the camp. He elaborated that the four arrested people were on their way to Nyala when the security authorities at Tandbei station told them to get down from their bus and arrested them. The sheikh, speaking through Radio Dabanga, demanded the security authorities to release them immediately.
