Planning office burgled, torched in Kabkabiya, North Darfur

Bandits raided the headquarters of the urban planning office in Kabkabiya on Sunday morning. The attack started a fire which destroyed the documents stored there.

A witness reported to Radio Dabanga that armed men driving in Land Cruisers and motorcycles threatened the guard at 2 am and broke into the office.

The police arrived at the scene and exchanged fire with the bandits, who then threw a grenade into the urban planning office, and fled. The explosion started a fire in the building, which burned all the files and documents the urban planners stored there.

The heavy gunfire awakened residents in Kabkabiya town and caused them to panic, the witness added.
