Opposition parties denounce Sudan government’s military campaigns

The Sudanese National Consensus Forces (NCF, a coalition of opposition parties) have strongly denounced the government’s military campaign for the coming period against all rebel forces in Sudan. Farouk Abu Eisa, the NCF chairperson told Radio Dabanga that “the regime in Khartoum has chosen the path of war, when it expanded its circle from Darfur to South Kordofan and the Blue Nile. This regime can only stay in power when it wages war. It is now expanding the war, as we witness every day.” Abu Eisa noted that the regime in Khartoum knows that when the war stops, the political forces will unite and eliminate “this gang of thieves”, referring to the ruling National Congress Party. He called on the Sudanese people to unite in order to “completely uproot this regime”. Kamal Omar, the spokesperson for the NCF and political secretary of the Popular Congress Party also stated that the Khartoum regime is now organising “the biggest campaign of war against its own people.” “This war is carried out by foreigners brought in from outside and the Janjaweed militias. It is not only directed against those who carry arms but comes close to annihilation of the population in Darfur, South Kordofan and the Blue Nile. Those government militias have killed, raped and robbed every village or town they entered. We as Sudanese people have no way today other than toppling the regime in order to stop the bloodshed in every inch of Sudan.” Regarding what is required of the political forces and the people of Sudan, Omar said that the NCF are working along two tracks. “The first concentrates on a broad campaign in the country stressing that there is no salvation from the ongoing wars except the ousting of the regime; the second track is the launch of diplomatic and humanitarian campaigns through meetings with the ambassadors of all countries in the world living in Khartoum, along with appealing to the international community to immediately intervene to stop the wars of genocide led by the ruling National Congress Party.” The Sudanese Armed Forces have reiterated the ability of peace for all war-torn areas. Gen. Mohamed Manti Anjar, commander of the Sudanese artillery said upon inspecting the Kadugli artillery unit on Thursday that “all capabilities of Sudanese artillery are geared to safeguard the citizens and liberate the detainees held by the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North”. He added that bringing peace to the states of Darfur and South Kordofan is a “legal and constitutional responsibility”. “The armed forces now have to wage war with the rebels after they have refused all the government calls for dialogue. They are now posing a significant threat to the security of the state and its citizens. It is the responsibility of the armed forces to enforce the prestige of the state and the rule of law.” File photo: Farouk Abu Eisa and Kamal Omar  ‘Investigate violations in Sudan’s Abu Zabad’: Umma Party (29 November 2013) Sudan’s Ministers announce ‘decisive campaign’ against armed movements (12 November 2013) SRF claim attack on two Sudanese army battalions in South Kordofan (12 November 2013) Sudanese NISS trained by Iranian Revolutionary Guards: dissident (11 November 2013)
