Omda shot dead in West Darfur

Unidentified men unload six bullets causing immediate deathTwo gunmen killed omda Ibrahim Yagoub Sumi in West Darfur’s Baida county on Wednesday.A witness from the region said that the omda was on his way from Baida to the village of Awair Radu which lies about 5 km from Baida on his motorcycle when two armed men kidnapped him. The incident occurred on the road east of Hai Elmashtal near Baida police station.The assailants forced him off his bike and emptied their guns on him which led to his immediate death.Police officer killedThe police officer Abdul Aziz from the village of Tara Baida was also killed on Tuesday by a group of armed herders.The incident took place when a group of farmers resorted to the police of Tara Baida to get rid of the herders who came with their camels and their livestock inside their farms.The herders had refused to leave the farms and opened fire at the police officers and policeman Abdul Aziz sustained six bullet injuries in his chest which led to his immediate death.On his part, omda Hamid Aldawaa the head of the Awlad Rashid clan confirmed the two incidents and told Radio Dabanga that the police managed to arrest two suspects in the policeman’s death.“They are now in the hands of the police under investigation,” he said.
